Note: There’s a pretty cool motivational video that complements this post – so you may want to watch the video first. (But you certainly don’t have to.)
So, how dreams become reality…
Talent is great. If you have some athletic ability, or you’re really intelligent, or you’re gifted with amazing instincts for negotiation, more power to you…
But the truth is, talented people are a dime a dozen. Even super-talented people are pretty much everywhere.
And… less talented folks routinely leave the “gifted ones” in the dust. In sports, in relationships, in business.
That’s because success isn’t primarily about ability. It matters much, much more what you do with whatever talent and skills you happen to have at your disposal… than how your “talent scorecard” measures up to others.
So, how do you turn your talent and your dreams into reality?
When you get right down to it, it takes three things: focus, planning, and following through with your plans.
Focus
First, you’ve got to focus on a particular goal. You’ve got to find something that’s important to you, and decide to focus on that area until you’ve created the change you desire.
And… you’ve got to focus on a particular approach to creating that change.
For example, if you’ve been following my emails and other blog posts, you’ve probably already decided to focus on changing your financial future. On top of that, you’ve likely decided to focus specifically on changing your financial future by investing in real estate.
(If you haven’t made that decision yet, please check out this post…)
This is important because it means you’ve decided not to focus on ignoring your financial well-being for years to come… or investing in other vehicles, like the stock market, professional gambling, or hoping you win the lottery.
You’ve said No to a whole host of distractions. Which means you can now f-o-c-u-s your energies on making a particular kind of change (your financial future) in a particular kind of way (real estate investing).
Create a Plan
There’s an old saying: “It’s hard to know when you’ve arrived if you don’t know where you’re going.”
Or, as the late Stephen Covey put it (it’s the second of his famous Seven Habits): “Begin with the end in mind.”
You simply must have a plan if you want to see real change in the area you’ve decided to focus on. That means a clear and practical roadmap… that charts out where you’re going, what it will look like when you’ve arrived there, specific steps on how to move from Point A all the way to Z, and realistic ways to measure your progress every step of the way.
The truth is, making such a plan is itself a huge action step towards reaching your goals. And it generates a momentum of its own.
It also goes a long way towards getting rid of that sense of “overwhelm” that so many people feel when they take on a large and important task. Making a plan gives you a sense of perspective and control. It helps you understand that you don’t need to “change your life” all at once – you probably just need to watch a particular training video that you know is right for you, or follow up on a couple of phone calls.
Such baby steps are a lot more manageable than changing your whole life – and yet, when you add them up, a transformed life is exactly what happens.
In that light, it’s no surprise that one of the first actions we take with clients as part of our Wealth Accelerator System is to help them develop a personalized Wealth Plan…
Follow Through
As important as focus and planning are, they’re not enough. You’ve got to put your plan into action.
You’ve got to follow through…
On the one hand, no one else can do that for you. Here at RP Capital, we offer high-quality free training, help you create your own Wealth Plan, and strive to plug you into ongoing training and support.
But only you can implement these things.
On the other hand, if you’ve said No to endless distractions by choosing to focus on changing a particular area of your life… and if you’ve formulated a workable plan to bring that change about… then chances are, you will follow through.
If you didn’t really care about creating such a breakthrough, you wouldn’t have bothered doing either of those things. If you were truly lazy, you wouldn’t have made it past those two tasks.
But you did choose to focus, and you did choose to plan for success. And by doing so, you began to create momentum to carry you forward.
So you very likely will follow through.
Especially when you tap into the ongoing support, encouragement, and training that we offer.
And, more generally, by tapping into such a support network in whatever area you’ve decided to focus on – whether it’s getting in shape physically, becoming a better parent, or learning to kayak. We aren’t just talking about real estate investing, after all! These are universal principles for lasting success…
In Conclusion…
There’s no substitute for well-planned, focused action.
Period.
That’s the approach which takes your passions, talents, and dreams… and turns them into a dynamic, life-filled reality. For you, your family, your friends, and your community.
